LAGOS, NIGERIA — August 7, 2025 — As Sierra7 advances from the Nigeria regional qualifier to the Carry1st Africa Cup 2025 Grand Finals, 25-year-old Port Harcourt born content creator Mavis Lucky is preparing to break a world record of her own — for the most selfies taken in three minutes.

The record attempt will take place live at the Carry1st Africa Cup Grand Finals in Lagos, running from 30–31 August, where eight teams — from Ghana, Kenya, Egypt, Senegal, Mauritius, Uganda, South Africa, and Nigeria — will compete for a spot in the Call of Duty®: Mobile World Championship.

Ahead of the record-breaking moment, Mavis shares her motivation, strategy, and how fans across the world can participate:

What inspired you to attempt a Guinness World Record in selfies — and why three minutes?

Khoded Oside inspired me. He broke a mobile gaming world record in 2023, and I managed his next two record attempts. Watching his journey motivated me to pursue a record of my own — and I’ve had my eye on this category ever since.

Why aim for 300 selfies when the current record is 184?

I studied the current record holder’s technique and saw where improvements could be made. I’ve already done over 500 selfies in testing. With the right setup and adrenaline from the Lagos crowd, I believe 300 is very possible.

How can people outside Lagos get involved?

Everyone can participate by uploading a selfie at www.MavisWorldRecordSelfies.com. These photos will be submitted as part of the official memorabilia for the Guinness World Records Museum — and participants can also order a personalised certificate.

What’s the significance of including global selfies in the memorabilia?

A selfie is a digital signature — it’s personal, expressive, and intentional. In gaming, we personalise avatars. This record is like a game to me, and every selfie is a power-up. It’s a way to invite the world to share the moment.

Why did you choose the Carry1st Africa Cup as your stage?

Carry1st understands the African gaming community like no one else. I’ve worked with them since 2021, and they’ve always supported bold, community-driven ideas. This event is the perfect platform to make history together.

How does this moment tie into Africa’s debut in the Call of Duty®: Mobile World Championship?

It’s a landmark year — Africa is on the world stage. This selfie record adds excitement and morale for the players. I hope it becomes a tradition at future qualifiers. We’re not just participating — we’re creating legacy.

Who helped bring this campaign to life?

Cr3st Digital transformed this from a one-day idea into a month-long global campaign. From building the site to managing the rollout, they’ve helped make the record attempt something everyone can be part of.

What do you hope this represents for African creators and gamers?

That we don’t need to wait to be included — we can make space. African stories, talent, and innovation deserve global recognition. This is just the beginning.
