The Call of Duty: Mobile community is in for an out-of-this-world update, as Season 6 — Gundams Arrive is just around the corner. With a major collaboration bringing iconic Gundam mechs to the battlefield, this new season promises an exciting mix of futuristic combat, new weapons, and exclusive Gundam-themed rewards.
Call of Duty: Mobile Season 6 - Gundams Arrive Review: Mechs Invade the Battlefield

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 6 is here, and it's unlike anything we've seen before. Gundams have landed in COD Mobile, bringing giant mech suits and a full-on anime crossover vibe. The idea of mixing Gundam mechs with a military shooter sounds pretty wild. But after diving into Season 6 myself, I can say this bold experiment is chaotic fun with a few quirks.

In this review, I'll break down all the new content and share all you need to know about this mech-filled season.

Gundams in COD Mobile: Embracing the Mech Madness

The headline feature of Season 6 is the Gundam Team Deathmatch mode. Yes, you actually pilot Gundam-style mechs in a 4v4 battle. It's a limited-time multiplayer mode that completely changes the pace of CODM. Instead of regular soldiers with guns, you spawn as an operator inside a giant mech suit. Each mech comes with unique weapons and abilities (jetpack boosts, dodge maneuvers, and flashy laser attacks straight out of an anime). The action even shifts to a third-person perspective on a brand new space-themed map. It's fast, frenetic, and feels like a mini-game of its own within COD Mobile.

Jumping into a mech was a surreal change. The first few matches, I'll admit, I was flailing around mashing buttons, trying to figure out combos and manage the energy meter. I'm not alone. Plenty of players were confused at first, too. A proper tutorial would've helped, but after a bit of trial and error, the mode starts to click.

That said, Gundam TDM isn't without its faults. Some in the community feel it's a cool idea but clunky in execution, citing stiff movement and awkward controls. The mech controls do take getting used to. It's not the silky-smooth gunplay we're used to in CODM. And if you're a die-hard Call of Duty purist, the mode might feel too far removed from the core game.

On the flip side, many players (myself included) have grown to love the change of pace. It's hard not to grin when you jet-boost over an enemy and land a charged shot to finish them off. One player even said it's "the most fun thing I've done in CODM". The mode has depth too; you have to manage energy for shields and powerful attacks, making it surprisingly tactical. Sure, seeing brightly colored mechs duking it out might feel out of scale in the COD universe, but that's part of the charm.

Bottom line: Gundam TDM brings some much-needed variety. It's a bold crossover that shows the devs are willing to take risks. If you're open-minded (or just a Gundam fan), it's worth suiting up for a few matches to experience the mech madness firsthand.

Gundam-Themed Rewards and Freebies

A big draw of this season is the pile of Gundam-themed rewards up for grabs. Activision has made sure there's plenty of free content to chase, especially if you give the new mode a try. The marquee prize is a free J358 – Fin Funnel v Gundam legendary pistol for completing the "Survival of the Fittest" event challenges. Along the way you can also earn Gundam-themed camos, an exclusive operator skin, and other cosmetic goodies.

Make no mistake, it's a grind. I found myself slogging through matches just to tick off event objectives. Many players are only putting up with Gundam TDM for the loot, but at least the rewards are worth it: a free legendary gun skin is something we rarely see in CODM, so it's hard to pass up.

Battle Pass Highlights: New Weapons and Skins

No new COD Mobile season would be complete without a shiny Battle Pass, and Season 6 delivers a solid one. The theme this time around is futuristic and sci-fi (to complement the Gundam vibes), and it might be one of my favorite recent passes. On the free side, the standout is the brand-new 3-Line Rifle marksman rifle. This bolt-action sniper hits hard and accurately, modeled after a classic WW2 rifle but with a high-tech twist in design. It hits like a truck and rewards accurate shooting, perfect for long-range takedowns.

Free tiers also dish out things like new weapon blueprints, some cool skins for your soldier, and the usual spread of credits and coins. If you don't buy the pass, you still get plenty to toy with, including that new rifle at Tier 21 (for free). But the real goodies, as always, sit in the Premium Pass.

So what do you get if you splurge on the premium BP? The premium pass is packed with sci-fi character skins (like Silver – Chrome Dome) and epic weapon blueprints (for guns like the BP50 and Oden), all with a futuristic flair. These blueprints not only look futuristic but come with unique kill effects and custom geometry that stand out in matches. If you're the type who likes showing off themed skins, this pass has a lot to offer.

For hardcore players, there's even a Battle Pass Subscription (Ground Forces) that adds extra rewards and XP boosts each month. There's also a Season 6 Challenge Pass with its own set of missions. Complete them to earn rewards like the J358 Hammer Grip revolver attachment, which boosts fire rate at the cost of ADS. It's a neat addition for players looking for more to grind.

Store Updates and Double CP Bonuses

Season 6’s store is heaven for cosmetic collectors, especially if you're into Gundam. They've rolled out two big lucky draws this season: one for Gundam-themed operators and one for Gundam-themed weapons. The operator draw lets you play as characters decked out in mobile suit armor (imagine an Ethan skin in a Freedom Gundam suit), and the weapon draw offers mecha-styled gun blueprints (like a Locus sniper called Red Comet). These items look incredible, though chasing them in the draw can get pricey.

Now, I'm not usually one to chase every lucky draw because they can get pricey, but I'll admit I threw some CP at the Gundam weapon draw. The temptation of owning a beam rifle that looks like it fell out of an anime was hard to resist. If you're a Gundam super-fan, these draws might be where you splurge this season. For the rest, it's still fun to spin once or twice and see if you get lucky with a drop.

Speaking of CP, there's a special bonus this season that's worth highlighting. You can take part in the Carry1st Double COD Points (CP) event this season, meaning any CP you buy comes with a 100% bonus. It's basically a two-for-one deal on CP packs, which is huge if you were eyeing the Battle Pass or some new skins.

For players in Africa, Carry1st is offering this Double CP promo with an even bigger CP giveaway for participants. You stand the chance to be one of the winners in the 50,000 CP giveaway raffle. CODM South Africa players further get the opportunity to win tickets to a Travis Scott concert, as well as Uber Eats, shopping, and spa vouchers. Just use the code “JOINTHEPARTY” when you check out, and voila, you’re in!

Community Reactions and Final Thoughts

Not surprisingly, the community's response to Season 6 is mixed. On one hand, many players absolutely love it. They say Gundam mode is fun, unique, and a refreshing change for CODM.

On the other hand, plenty of players just aren't sold. Some feel it's too far from what CODM is supposed to be, "basically a standalone game" in the words of one Redditor. There are also complaints about clunky controls and the slower, less familiar gameplay compared to normal COD.

Personally, I'm leaning positive. If Gundam TDM isn't your thing, you can simply ignore it and enjoy the rest of the season's offerings. But if you skip it entirely, you'll miss out on a novel experience and some sweet rewards. I also think this season update answers a lot of questions that have arisen around CODM’s content lately, in the sense that it keeps the game feeling fresh.

All told, Season 6 is pretty stacked. The Battle Pass is loaded with content, the new 3-Line Rifle is a blast to use, and the events are generous. The Gundam collab might not be for everyone, but you can't call this season boring.

The Bottomline

Call of Duty: Mobile Season 6 – Gundams Arrive delivers an entertaining jolt to the CODM experience. It's a season of high risk and high reward: bringing giant mechs into the fray could have been a disaster, but instead it lands as a mostly positive shake-up. The new mode is ambitious and imperfect, yet it's given us something to talk about (and plenty of cool gear to earn). If you're a fan of either COD or Gundam, or just curious to see what a mash-up of the two feels like, this season is a must-try.

Season 6 shows that COD Mobile isn't afraid to get weird and try new things, which is exciting. And with the generous Double CP event making it easier to snag the new goodies, it's a great time to jump in and enjoy the ride.

So, what do you say: does Call of Duty Mobile Season 6 sound like your cup of tea?
